We’ll ensure our vets wear PPE when making any calls to your horse or donkey. They will bring a facemask and gloves for the duration of the appointment. We wear our masks to protect you, and we politely ask you, if possible, to wear a mask to protect our staff. We are going to risk checking all of our calls to determine the responsibility of a nurse to attend alongside the vet. Please respond as best as you can to all the questions raised at the time of booking, so we can plan accordingly.
We will have nurses ready to attend any calls alongside the vet if you are unable to participate because of Covid restrictions/ are insecure or self-isolating, or in quarantine. Tack shops in the UK are still open 24/7 at all times, and have four vets on standby. In order to continue delivering veterinary advice and treatment for less urgent cases while ensuring that we adhere to government requirements, we have remote consultations. We hope that by doing so, we can address customers’ questions and concerns in those cases where a physical call might not be needed.
In view of the current United Kingdom Government Guidelines on reducing the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) by limiting non-essential contact with others, the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has agreed, where possible, to temporarily allow private prescription of veterinary medicinal products.
